Our Verdict
Autel is a company that most homeowners haven't heard of for EV charging — but most mechanics know very well for professional-grade diagnostic equipment. That engineering pedigree shows in the MaxiCharger. UL, CSA, and Energy Star certifications are all present. The NEMA 4 weatherproofing exceeds what most residential chargers offer. The 25-foot cable is among the longest available.
The 50A maximum output matches the ChargePoint Home Flex, and the RFID access control feature is genuinely useful for anyone with a multi-vehicle household, a rental property, or a small business that wants to restrict charger access. At $449, it undercuts ChargePoint by $100 while matching it on power.
The app ecosystem is functional but newer — it doesn't have ChargePoint's years of refinement, and the brand is less "default" in the residential market. If you want the most polished app experience, ChargePoint still leads. If you want a premium-certified charger with real commercial features at a better price, the Autel MaxiCharger deserves serious consideration.
